The Access Check That Should Happen Before Furniture Delivery

An item can fit the room and still fail to reach it. Delivery planning should follow the complete route from the vehicle to the final position.

Measure the narrowest points

Record gate, doorway, corridor, stair and lift dimensions. Include low ceilings, sharp turns and fixed rails.

Describe the approach

Tell the supplier about road access, parking distance, floor level and any time restrictions at the building.

Clear and protect the route

Move fragile objects and loose rugs. Protect finished floors and walls where heavy pieces will pass.

Confirm service boundaries

Ask whether the delivery includes offloading, carrying, assembly, positioning and removal of packaging.

  • Vehicle access
  • Door width
  • Stairs or lift
  • Carrying distance
  • Assembly scope

Common questions

Does furniture delivery always include assembly?
No. Confirm the exact delivery and assembly scope in writing before the order is approved.
